Voluntary Phase 2012 - Financial Supports
DAFM now offers financial supports to the voluntary phase of the national BVD eradication programme through:
1 - A €15 collection payment for PI calves
A €15 payment to cover the cost of culling BVD virus-positive calves from both dairy and beef herds. The €15 subsidy will be paid directly to the animal collector on submission to the Department's Wexford office by the animal collector of the NBAS 31D (available here) form relating to the disposed calf.
2 - A €100 welfare payment for beef-bred cows whose offspring is removed under the voluntary phase of the BVD programme.
The procedure to obtain this payment is as follows:
The department will issue an application form and a DeMinimis declaration form following the first report of a BVD-virus positive animal in a given herd on the ICBF database.
These should be returned within 14 days to:

Requirements for eligibility include:
- Compliance with BVD programme guidelines
- Testing of the dam (and if positive other offspring in the herd)
- Calf born during 2012
Further forms are not required for any further virus positive calves detected in the herd.
